The Canadian Rockies make for some of the best hiking on the planet. Located just west of Calgary, Alberta there are five main areas focused within this website.
The area west of Bragg Creek is a favourite of locals and affords some great early and late season hiking. Most trails offer spectacular views of the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies.
The Bow Valley or Bow Corridor is the gateway to the Canadian Rockies and provides some great hiking that is a short drive from Canmore.
Kananaskis Country is a vast natural area with jagged mountain ranges, scenic valleys and a great loop drive south of the Transcanada highway on highway 40 and looping up to Canmore on the Smith Dorrien Road also known as Spray Lakes Road. This area is divided into North and South because of the extensive hiking opportunities available.
Banff National Park like Kananaskis provides extensive hiking opportunities with diverse landscapes and hikes that will leave you speechless. The natural beauty of the area, rich wildlife and sweeping vistas really make it one of the great hiking areas of the world.
Yoho National Park is less visited than Banff National Park and provides some of the most rugged opportunites for outdoor adventures. Located just across the Alberta border in British Columbia it shoulders up against icefields and glaciers and has world-class trails that will challenge any abilities.
As an avid photographer this is my creative backyard. Every hike on this site has photos and overtime many will have winter snowshoeing perspectives and photos taken from other times of the year, weather conditions and different lenses. The goal to portray the areas in different ways so that visitors can gain a better understanding and appreciation for this incredible natural location. Enjoy.
